EQC Domestic Earthquake Claims Settlement Advice

For the recent events in Kaikoura on the 14th November 2016 all claims are to be lodged with the EQC or your private insurer, by 14 February 2017

 

As a result of the recent earthquake events an agreement between private insurers and the Earthquake Commission (EQC) has been formed to simplify how home and contents insurance claims are resolved for insured people affected by the recent Earthquakes.

 

Under the agreement, private insurers will act as EQC’s agents and settle your home and contents claims for earthquake damage for their own customers, even those claims that are under the EQC cap. The EQC cap is up to $100,000 (+ GST) for your insured home and up to $20,000 (+ GST) for your insured contents.
